Due note: Gualala Point Regional Park features a small campground (located on the east side of the park)

My thoughts: We planned a short stop here on our way north for observation and to starch our lags, but we stayed there for about an hour and a half. At the bay, about 150 meters from the shore, there were 3 whales that just swimming there for a long time.

The visit:

A small park with a very long beach on the mouth of the Gualala river.

The park is popular with day hikers, beachcombers, picnickers, birders and whale-watchers.

Most of the park is flat open grassland, the short trails will take you along the coastal sea cliffs, to the sandy beach and near the Gualala River.

The downside of this beach that it is relatively far from the parking lot (about half a mile)

The hike:

Less than 2 miles easy hike that will take you to the bay viewing point and from there to the seashore dunes.

South of Gualala Point beach on hwy 1:
