Introduction:
What? :
On our way to Poas
Volcano Park we made a short stop at Hacienda Alsacia Starbucks Coffee Farm.
Looks like that
Hacienda Alsacia, scenic 240-hectare coffee farm is Starbucks first and only
coffee farm that combined a coffee store with amazing viewing deck and it also
has organized tours in the farm (Adults - $30.00).
Coffee:
Arabica beans
were first introduced to Costa Rica in the 1700s. Today coffee is an important
part of Costa Rica economy.
To help ensure
the future of coffee, the mission of Hacienda Alsacia is clear: Create best
practices to make growing coffee more profitable for small-scale farms; develop
the next generation of disease-resistant, high-quality coffee; and share information
and resources freely with farmers around the world.

Where? :
Hacienda
Alsacia Starbucks Coffee Farm is located on the slopes of Poás Volcano, less
than one hour away from Costa Rica’s capital, San Jose.
If you are
coming from San Jose, use road 130 that is climbing out of Alajuela, it will be
changed into road 712 to reach the location.
If you are on
your way back from Poas Volcano Park than take road 146 and then turn left into
road 712.
When? :
Year round.
December to
April is the dry season at Costa Rica and I recommend visiting the state when
there is less chance for rain.
It’s also the
most popular time to visit, so expect more tourists and crowds. Book things you
know like hotel, park entries, rental car as far ahead as you can.
When traveling
to Costa Rica you should always be prepared for some showers no matter what
time of year you are visiting.
Daily Hours of Café
& Gift Shop: 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Due note 1: This is a nice
stop on your way to/from Poas Volcano Park visit.
Due note 2: Plenty of free
parking
My thoughts: This is probably
the most beautiful Starbucks coffee store you can probably find anywhere in the
world, or at least at places I visited 😊
